The recovery room at Iron Ambition: a cedar infrared sauna lit from within, beside the cold plunge

Laguna Hills, California · By appointment

Everything you can do now, you should still be doing in twenty years.

Iron Ambition is private 1:1 and small-group coaching in Laguna Hills, with a Sunlighten infrared sauna and cold plunge in the same studio. Every hour is booked, and Austin or Rachael coach all of it.

Two coaches. Sessions from 5am, Monday to Friday.

A private studio on Cabot Road

A gym sells you a door code and calls it a service.

Iron Ambition sells you the hour and the person standing in it. Every hour on the calendar is booked, coached and written for whoever is in it, and when the work is done the sauna and the plunge are ten steps from the floor.

1:1 and small group

Two coaches who don't do the same thing.

Austin coaches functional training: the movements that carry into the rest of your week. Rachael holds a Kinesiology degree and works strength, body composition and nutrition together, at the studio or online. You are matched to one of them at the consult, and then you keep them.

Sauna and cold plunge

The other half of the work.

A Sunlighten infrared sauna and a cold plunge in one private room, booked by the session. Use them on their own, or on the back of a training hour in the same building. Memberships from $220 a month.

Why both are in one building

The part most studios send you somewhere else for.

Almost every private trainer in south Orange County will tell you recovery matters, then hand you a list of places to go do it. The sauna and the plunge are in this building, included in the same conversation as your program.

Heat first, then cold. The research calls it contrast therapy, and the clearest evidence is for the short-term effects: less soreness, better mobility, easier movement after hard work. Worth doing in the building you already trained in.

Austin and Rachael

You are matched to one of them, and then you keep them.

Different specialisms, so the match matters. It gets made at the consult, before anything is booked.

Common questions

The questions that come up first.

Is Iron Ambition a gym?
It is a private studio in Laguna Hills where every hour on the calendar is booked and coached. The floor stays quiet and the room is free at the time you booked it.
How much does personal training cost in Laguna Hills?
At Iron Ambition, an hour one-on-one is $80 to $100, and thirty minutes is $40 to $60. Training with a partner is $150 to $170 for the hour, which works out lower each. Recovery memberships start at $220 a month and are priced separately.
Do I need to be fit before I start?
The program starts from what you can do now. A good share of the people here are starting from scratch and would rather learn with the door shut, and the studio is built for everyday movement first.
What happens at the free consult?
It is a conversation, not a sales appointment. Austin or Rachael ask what you want, what has stopped you before, and what your body has already been through, then tell you which of them you should be working with and why. It runs about twenty minutes and costs nothing.
Which coach will I work with?
Whichever one fits what you are after, decided at the consult. Austin specializes in functional training and everyday movement, with twelve years of coaching behind it. Rachael holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and works strength, body composition and nutrition together, at the studio or online. Once you are matched, that is who coaches every session.

How it starts

Three steps, and the first one is free.

  1. 01

    Book twenty minutes.

Free. Tell Austin and Rachael what you want and what your week actually looks like.

  2. 02

    Get matched, then programmed.

One coach takes you, and the program is written around your history, your schedule and what you want to still be doing in twenty years.

  3. 03

Train and recover in one building.

The same coach every session, with the sauna and the plunge ten steps from the floor.

Free, and about twenty minutes

Start with a conversation, not a contract.

What you want, what has stopped you before, and whether this is the right room for it. Nothing is booked until you have spoken to Austin or Rachael.

Before you book

Read it before you walk in.

A private studio is harder to picture than a gym you can wander around, because the only way in is an appointment. So here it is in writing: how the studio works, who coaches you, what the consult is, and how your rate gets worked out.

  • Open the page and read it. The form at the bottom is optional.
  • Every rate is published in it, because every rate is published anyway.

How the studio works

Everything above in one page: how sessions are booked, who coaches you, what the consult is, and the three things that decide your rate.
